The Art of Ashley Jones

Working across charcoal, pigment and clay, I create work inspired by texture, contrast and the beauty of the handmade. Each piece reflects a curiosity for process, material and form.

About Ashley Jones

Creativity has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up within a family design and print business, I was surrounded by creativity, problem-solving, and the process of turning ideas into physical objects. From digital printing and vinyl cutting to engraving, laminating and laser cutting, I developed an appreciation for both craftsmanship and experimentation from an early age.

Although largely self-taught in my early artistic journey, I later undertook specialist training with professional painters and sculptors, helping to expand and refine my practice. Today, I work across a range of mediums including charcoal, graphite, watercolour, acrylic and ceramics, allowing each idea to find its most natural form.

I am particularly drawn to texture, tone and contrast. Whether building layers in a charcoal drawing, exploring the movement of pigment across paper, or shaping clay by hand, I enjoy the relationship between material, process and expression. The tactile nature of making remains at the heart of my work.

As a neurodivergent artist, creativity provides both focus and freedom. It allows me to explore ideas deeply, embrace experimentation, and continually learn through the act of making.

My work ranges from detailed studies and expressive drawings to sculpture and ceramics, united by a fascination with the handmade, the imperfect, and the stories that emerge through process.

Creatively Unbound is more than a tagline; it reflects my belief that creativity thrives when curiosity leads the way.
